2012 engagement ring trend (2) – Antique gemstone rings

2012 is here with new trends and fashion style. So what will be new in this year in engagement rings? Along with halo settings that we have discussed later the year will show an exotic welcome to antique and vintage gemstone engagement rings. With a new year everything old is new again! The Victorian and Edwardian style engagement rings will make their way into the hearts of jewelry lovers. And Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles will make their own statement of luxury in 2012.

The Victorian engagement rings show magnificence and riches. The designs of this era include motifs of flowers, birds, hearts and symbolic figures that represent love and nature at their best. With intricate designing on metal and use of colorful gemstones the rings with Victorian style signify eternal love and so once again they are becoming very popular.

Edwardian style includes more delicate and lighter designs with intricate patterns. The gemstone engagement rings in this style showcase garlands, ribbons, and romantic scrollwork and accent stones carefully woven into an overall ring design. This unique complexity with extreme lightness is probably the reason of timeless popularity of Edwardian style gemstone engagement rings.

The art deco style was introduced in 1930s in Paris. It was primarily included gemstones like rubies, sapphires and emeralds which were very popular as a substitute to diamond. Extremely gorgeous geometric figures and architectural lines were the key features of this style.

Intricate metal work with excellent stone shapes set in mesmerizing pave and micropave settings are what people like the most in today’s time. These fine settings in white metal allow a smaller stone to look bigger. Antique, charming and ageless, these antique engagement rings have caught the eyes of celebrities in past few years and their popularity will increase more in year 2012.

If you think to have an eternal expression of love that will speak for you then choose an antique style engagement ring. You can customize one according to your choice with a touch of modern glamour and ethnic grace.

Kinda disagree about antique rings trending with celebrities. I mean, the last few engagement rings I've seen on TV were custom made sparklers with gigantic gems set in them!
